BioLogic
Potentiostats/Galvanostats, Battery Testing, Circular Dichroism
Bio-Logic Science Instruments SAS is a French designer and manufacturer of high performance laboratory research instruments and software.
Electrochemistry
EC-LAB Electrochemistry
Historically, the first of our potentiostats was designed to study intercalated compounds with long experiment times due to slow diffusion coefficients. It was the, MacPile, multichannel instrument that worked in either galvanostatic mode or potentiostatic mode (each channel was devoted to one of either mode). Then the interest for multichannel potentiostats increased with battery testing, corrosion study, photovoltaic, material testing, fuel cell & biosensors development. So, new versatile electrochemical workstation have been developed to address all these applications.
Bio-Logic is proud to have the most complete offering on the market:
- • Single potentiostat/galvanostat/ZRA such as SP-150, SP-200, SP-300 (also configurable as bipotentiostat).
- • Multichannel potentiostat/galvanostat/ZRA such as VSP, VSP-300, VMP3 that offer up to 16 channel to measure 16 batteries or super-capacitor in parallel to increase the throughput of the research. Note a specific mode is available to carry out multielectrode measurement, especially relevant for corrosion or sensor investigations.
- • Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) is available as option for each instrument. It is managed by a built-in Frequency Response Analyzer (FRA).
- • Current & Voltage boosters are also offered as option.
All the instruments are controlled by EC-LabⓇ software. It includes all the standard electrochemical techniques such as CV, Amperometry, Potentiometry, Pulsed technique, Electrolysis, ZRA…
Advanced techniques are also available to carry out a Critical Pitting Temperature (CPT), RDE, RRDE, eQCM, spectroelectrochemical measurements, IMVS, or analog ramp.
EC-LabⓇ is not only a monitoring software but it includes also analysis tools such as Z Fit (EIS data modeling), CV Fit (voltammetry fitting), Levich, Tafel Fit, Rp Fit.
In addition, accessories (Electrodes, electrochemical cell, RDE, QCM) that cover all the application are in the EC-Lab portfolio.
Rapid-Kinetics, Spectroscopy & Photosynthesis
CD-LAB Kinetics & Spectroscopy
The CD-Lab division is the historical division of Bio-Logic. It covers the design, development and manufacturing of systems dedicated to rapid kinetics and spectroscopy instrumentation. Our Rapid Kinetics instrumentation is mainly based on our third generation of stopped-flow mixers SFM-2000/3000/4000. It offers ultra-short dead time, small volume operation and modularity so the stopped-flow can be used with a very large range of detectors. QFM-4000 is the worldwide reference for micro-volume quench-flow applications.
Our spectroscopy product range includes optimized spectrometers developped for rapid kinetics measurements (MOS-200, MOS-200/M and MOS-DAD) and MOS-500 a world-class circular dichroism steady state spectrometer. The innovative and patented design of MOS-500 delivers outstanding performance in wavelength range, sensitivity, precision and speed. Thanks to its modular design MOS-500 is much more than a CD spectropolarimeter as it offers multiple detection modes in standard.
CD-Lab division also includes the unique JTS-10 pump-probe spectrometer for photosynthesis studies, and a Rapid Solution Changer (RSC-200) for electrophysiology applications.
An extensive range of accessories have also been designed to complement these instruments.
Battery & energy devices testing
BT-LAB Battery testing
The BT-Lab division covers the design, development and manufacturing of systems dedicated to the Lithium-ion battery and supercapacitor testing. This young division shares the same technology with the highly prized EC-Lab instruments.
To cover a wide range of applications and battery testing needs, the instrument line-up is articulated around the BCS-8xx series battery cyclers and the MPG-2xx series R&D grade battery test stations.
The BCS-8xx series comes with the specifically developed BT-Lab and ModuloBat software to answer the requirements of the high through-put battery cycling industry. In addition, all the standard potentiostatic and galvanostatic techniques are also available:
- • Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS)
- • Cyclic Voltammetry (CV)
- • Galvanostatic Intermittent Titration Technique (GITT)
- • Potentiostatic Intermittent Titration Technique (PITT)
- • Coulombic Efficiency Determination (CED)
- • Battery Capacity Determination (BCD)
- • Urban Profile
An extensive range of accessories have also been designed to complement these instruments:
- • Current collector
- • Battery holders for coins and cylindrical battery
- • Dilatometer
- • Temperature climate chamber
The BT-Lab systems offer a high performance-value ratio with unique capabilities such as Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) standard on every channel, 18-bit ADC, current range from 10µA to 120A…
Whether it’s for battery forming, grading or cycling the BT-Lab division offers a modern family of battery testers in constant evolution to answer customer’s needs.
MT-LAB Material testing
MT-Lab division offers a complete solution for characterization of materials (solid, colloids, mulls, powders, liquids) in a wide temperature range and under controlled atmospheres. This solution includes impedance analyzers, sample holders, temperature control units and MT-LabⓇ software. The main application is temperature dependent measurements of electrical, dielectric properties and kinetic parameters in the temperatures range (-40 °C up to 1100 °C) and under controlled atmospheres (inert and active gas).
Electrochemical Scanning systems
SCAN-LAB Scanning systems
SCAN-Lab is the division dedicated to Bio-Logic scanning probe electrochemistry workstations. The main purpose of these instruments is to obtain electrochemical information at the local scale. Classical electrochemical investigation with, for example, a potentiostat/galvanostat/impedance analyzeronly provides information that is an average of phenomena occurring indistinctly on the whole surface of the electrode.
The scanning probe microscopy provides insight on the local electrochemistry, and information at the micrometer scale, which allows the user to better understand the global properties of any material involved in electrochemistry.
SCAN-Lab instruments should be considered as micrometer resolution electrochemical mapping tools for local electrochemistry investigation.
Applications range from corrosion, energy storage, coatings, sensors, bioelectrochemistry, photovoltaics. SCAN-Lab instruments can be used for micro-machining, molecular grafting, screening of catalysts, localized corrosion properties of any heterogeneous materials (structural metals, battery electrodes, coated samples…).
Each instrument is modular and can perform several local techniques:
